INFO

Prof. Pertti Hakonen is a full professor at the Department of Applied Physics of Aalto University, the director of the Low Temperature Laboratory infrastructure and an ERC-Advanced Grant recipient (2015). His research focuses on fundamental quantum phenomena in nanostructures using electronic transport measurements at microwave frequencies. His recent work includes novel hybrid systems combining electrical and mechanical degrees of freedom for sensing, mixing, and amplification applications. His most important scientific contributions include novel electromechanical parametric amplifiers, coherent transfer of information between mechanical and electrical systems, demonstration of Landau-Zener interference in a Cooper-pair box, and demonstration of ballistic behavior in graphene using shot noise measurements. He is the vice-chair of the IUPAP C5, Commission on Low Temperature Physics (2017-), a Fellow member of the American Physical Society, a member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, and of Academia Europaea. https://users.aalto.fi/~pjh/
