We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Appointment in Condensed Matter Research in the Materials Science Division (MSD) at Argonne National Laboratory. The position is related to research aimed at developing and implementing cryogenic scanning probe techniques including MFM, AFM and microwave impedance mapping for the study of topological materials and spin-ice structures. The primary research focus will be on the investigation and identification of topological surface states in superconducting, semiconducting and proximity-coupled systems.
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Physics or related field obtained within the last three years, extensive experimental experience in designing and implementing cryogenic scanning probe techniques and a strong experimental/theoretical background in condensed matter physics, particularly superconductivity and topological states of matter.
Additional skills in nanofabrication, small-signal recovery and microwave techniques, and basic programing skills (MATLAB, LabView) are desirable. Good written and oral communication skills are a prerequisite.
The candidate is expected to think and work independently and conduct research in a highly interdisciplinary environment of chemist, physicist and materials scientists.
