STSM of Pablo Orus at the University of Antwerp (Belgium)
The Advanced design of superconducting nanocircuitry for nontrivial vortex transport – Experiment vs. simulations STSM took place at the University of Antwerp (Belgium) during the last two weeks of December 2017. The host provided with experimental data related to electrical properties of superconducting nanostructures grown by focused ion beam deposition. The research group at the University of Antwerp has developed a numerical simulation tool based on the Ginzburg-Landau macroscopic theory of superconductivity that is capable to replicate the experiment conditions, and hence verify the validity of the hypotheses on which the experiment is based. The stay proved to be successful not only to establish a solid theoretical basis for experiment interpretation, but also to strengthen the collaborative effort between the two groups.
